Do we have to pay tax?

Hello all, got a bit of a moral conundrum on 'ands. Me neighbour, old chap he is, says he ain't paid a penny in taxes 'cause he considers it robbery. Now, it's got me thinkin' - is it right? Why's we breaking our backs to pay up, when some sit pretty without giving a dime? Thoughts?

@Mojo, ease up mate. The question’s in good faith. To @Bratt_Boy, your concerns are understandable. Taxes are a complex issue and it's natural to question the system. However, they're a crucial part of maintaining our society. Without them, many public services and infrastructure would crumble. As for your neighbour, while it may seem he's benefiting now, tax evasion carries severe penalties if caught.

@Damon That's super illegal and could land the OP in serious trouble. I would strongly advise against that. Any disputes with taxation should be addressed through legal means.
