diy: the key to fringe…

if you are like me, finding keys in my black abyss (aka: purse) is like panning for gold.  totally hit or miss.

so i fashioned this fringe leather keychain in about :20minutes.  it’s perfect because it feels different than all the other shit in my bag, and i can quickly distinguish it’s leather-y properties from, say, my NARS lip gloss collection.

you will need:

(x1) key ring (mine is approx 1/2″)

(x1) piece of soft leather (mine is 3.5″ long x 1/2″ wide)

(x1) pyramid stud (mine is 3/8″)

(x1) sharp pair of scissors

(x1) X-Acto knife

(x1) butter knife

take your leather, and fold (1/2″) around the keyring.  use your X-Acto to puncture two holes in the leather, so that your pyramid stud will go thru (x2) layers of leather.  push your pyramid stud thru both pieces of leather, secure/ flatten prongs with butter knife.  take your sharp scissors, and cut your leather strip into (x7) pieces- each strip approx (1/8″) wide.

let me know if you have questions.  i got all my supplies at Jo-Anns Crafts.
