diy: neon rhinestones

i’ve been admiring the tom binns neon necklace for ages, but it was not until i observed it in person, that i learned the stones were hand painted (AKA: super-DIYable)

today i trekked to my local antique store, followed by a trip to michaels, for the vintage necklaces and pen supplies, respectively.

you’ll need: vintage rhinestone necklace ($38.00) (i wired mine to a bracelet, so create more mass), matte-finish neon paint pens ($11.99) or neon nail polish.

begin by painting selected stones, leaving some rhinestone rows as well.  repeat three times, for improved opaque effect.  paint both the stone and prongs.  have some q-tips on hand for easy clean-up.  mine took approx. 2 hrs.  easy!
